Goodbye Grandad/Grandmother Poems

My Grandad with his flat cap and pigeons
Gold watch on a big long chain;
I only saw him at Christmastime
But now I'll never see him again.

He liked his afternoon doze in his chair
But now he's gone for the long sleep in the sky;
Nobody has bothered to explain to me though
Why my Grandad had to die.

My Grandad was a storyteller
He held me spellbound all the time;
He could really put a spin
On a yarn or two and do the mime.

He reckoned when he was a kid
The roads flooded and you had to get a boat;
The school was an old castle
And you had to cross the moat.

I'll miss you now you're gone
It will never be the same;
So now maybe that you're not here
Someone will tell me your middle name.
Goodbye Grandad!!

Grandads like to spend time with us
They can't hear very well so we can shout;
They tell us jokes and have a laugh
They're teeth wobble and can even take them out.

Grandads gone to heaven they say
I don't know what to do;
I don't know where heaven is
Apparently there's a queue.

Mom told me to say goodbye
You never said it to me?
But I'm going to miss you Popsicals
I loved you don't you see!

Goodbye Grandad verses

**

Grandad! You and Nana are going away on a boat
You're going to stay there for a long time too.
I'm not sure why you're going?
Are you sure I can't come with you.

**

We little knew that morning that
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
in death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you,
you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you,
the day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories,
your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you,
your always at our side.

Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.
Bye Bye Grandad - Love You!!!

PENNY

I found a penny today
Just laying on the ground
But it's not just a penny
This little coin I've found.

Found pennies come from heaven
That's what my Grandpa told me
He said Angels toss them down
Oh, how I loved that story.

He said when an Angel misses you
They toss a penny down
Sometimes just to cheer you up
To make a smile out of your frown

So don't pass by that penny
When you're feeling blue
It may be a penny from heaven
That an Angel's tossed to you

This is a poem for my Grandma
As she's going far away;
I know that cos mom told me
I can't see her every day.

I will go on holiday there
But only once a year;
I've got to go on a plane
To save time on getting there.

Though it sounds cool to me
I will miss her very much;
My mom is going to teach me
How to see her and keep in touch.

She'll show me how to see her
Inside of her computer but
I'll only see and hear, not touch
That's no good without her magic hug.

My Grandma was very wonderful
Grandad says so everyday;
He misses her so much too
In every single way.

She had that magic touch
To make everyone she met smile;
She would help anyone she could
She always went that extra mile.

Grandad says that's what wore her out
She should've rested more;
But it made Grandma who she was
The woman we all adored.

Goodbyes are not forever.
Goodbyes are not the end.
They simply mean I'll miss you
Until we meet again!

Goodbye Grandmother Poems

**

This goodbye will be a long one
As the doctor tells us so;
But I am finding it hard to say
I don't want you to go.

We say silly things at sad times like these
'Cos you don't want to go anywhere either;
You've agreed though that you're tired
You can't fight it anymore neither.

I will always love you and keep you in my heart
No matter what, no matter where;
I will always feel you close to me
As I can see you in there.

Grandma, I'm off to travel round the world
I've told you since I was a little boy;
That this was my plan for my gap year
When you bought me a globe for a toy

Lots to see and lots to do
I'll send a postcard from everywhere;
I hope you decide to come and visit
Go on, c'mon - if you dare!!

So cheerio for now, I'll see you soon
Monday is D day for the off;
I'll come and visit as I always do
Bringing two cream cakes to scoff.

My Grandma is with the angels
That's what My Mom said to me;
I think that they should give her back
As I want her here with me.

We're going to her funeral
Mom told me to say goodbye today
But after all the crying I've done
I don't know what to say.
Goodbye Grandma! I'll love you always.

Grandmas Wings

Grandma I wonder
where you keep your wings.

Are they hung in your closet
with the rest of your things?

Do you put them away
and just use them at night

or give them to Rosie
to polish up bright.

I know you have wings
for this must be true

'cause God always gives
them to Angels just like
